A quick Note on fallen trees….

Recently we've had some neighbors connect with us about trees that have fallen into the ponds. We contacted the city and this is our best understanding surrounding them.

The city, from a public works perspective, views the function of the ponds as stormwater management. As such, if a tree or branch falls into the pond and blocks or impedes the ponds stormwater function (say by blocking a drain or culvert), the city would remediate that (but that does not necessarily include removing and disposing of the old tree - just restoring function).

If the same issue occurs on Bucher Park property, they not only consider the stormwater aspect but the recreational impact. Currently, the fallen tree south of the sledding hill does not qualify for removal based on those criteria and, per the city resource management person, is beneficial to wildlife habitat in its current state.

As a reminder, any fallen tree on private property is that homeowners responsibility to resolve.
